We The People control our destiny, but no one wants to give up even an iota of their free stuff. Both political parties dig in to protect their constituents benefits/free stuff. The reason it is so divisive today is that there is little left to divvy up. The people have to give their elected officials a sign that they are ready to give something up, for the benefit of all.
I am glad that our prevailing attitudes were not present when the greatest generation set off to fight World War II. We need their mindset of sacrifice today.
Handouts for oil companies that make billions
50% of citizens on food stamps
50% of citizens pay no federal taxes
The wealthy unwilling to pay even 5% more in taxes
Our military spends more than our top 20 competitors, of which most are our friends.
We couldn't even stop delivery of the mail on Saturday when even a brain dead dweeb knows that the post office is broke, and that e-mails, texting and Facebook, are supplanting the physical mail.
