The year is 2012, consumers, our government, our states, and world governments, are all broke. If consumers could double their debt again, or governments could triple their debt again, we would have an explosion in prosperity the likes we have never seen.
This is an open letter to those who would suggest that the America middle class will rise up in revolution over income inequality.
"Calculations show that the planet has a total of 1.9 hectares of biologically productive land per person to supply resources and absorb wastes—yet the average person on earth already uses 2.3 hectares. These “ecological footprints” range from the 9.7 hectares used by the average "middle Class" American, to the 0.47 hectares used by the average Mozambican"
To suggest that America's middle class will raise up in revolution is laughable. Does anyone seriously expect the middle class to rise up in revolt over losing 1 hectare of their 9.7 hectares, "Hi Bob, I can't make the revolution today, Best Buy is selling 42 inch plasma TVs for $375.00. I know they are made in China, but five years ago my brother paid over $3000 for the same TV. Maybe I can join in next week"
The world lives on 2.3 hectares, and revolutionists expect the most wealthy middle class on the planet to rise up and throw off their shackles for the loss of 1 hectare? Where...., in the Walmart parking lot?
The revolt will take place.........., not because of the perceived inequality of Bill Gates bank account, but because of our unsustainable debt.
American's should take more time to concentrate on the coming debt implosion.
I had 1/3 of my net worth in the Reserve Fund when it broke the buck after Lehman went BK. If not for the government backstopping all 3.5 trillion dollars in money market funds that Monday, "money the government nor the Fed had" we would have had the greatest bank run in history.
Everyone in the fund got their money back "this time", albeit 15 months later.
There will be no place to hide when debt finally hits the wall. The responsible and irresponsible will go down together.
If revolutionaries want a cause, it should be to lower debt world wide before it is to late. Japan at 230% debt to GDP is a ticking time bomb.
But me thinks I am talking to myself. Go back to what you were doing, class war mongering.
